Political system – Republic of Montenegro gained its independence ant the Referendum held on 21st May 2006. Before that Montenegro was a member of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, proclaimed on 4 February 2003 and based on the equality of the two member states, the state of Serbia and the state of Montenegro.
